I've had hemorrhoids in some form or another since I was 18, and I am now 23. One or more of the following occurs:
- bleeding hemorrhoids during bowel movements (occasional)
- discomfort after bowel movements, i.e. swelling & mild pain
- hemorrhoids constantly present - swollen after bowel movement; very small but still present during the day.
Also, I'm pretty sure I have anal fissures. There is a definite 'opening' back there which sometimes leaks a small amount of blood during bowel movements or a clear fluid occasionally during normal daily activity.
I've had a colonoscopy (diagnosed w/Hemorrhoids but no polyps, etc.). At the time I had no health insurance so I didn't get the prescription for suppositories.
I've tried baths, wipes, suppositories, fiber, water..all the natural remedies. Should I seriously consider surgery, laser, etc.? I am otherwise totally healthy - no smoker, normal weight.
It is getting to the point that it is a constant nuisance and source of discomfort.

I have a small hemorrhoid and it isn't too bothersome, just itchy. I just diagnosed it as a hemorrhoid today so I've taken the following precautions-i don't wipe(i rinse in the shower afterwards), plan to eat more fiber, and I'm using preparation H. Will it take more than a week or 2 to clear up? Also, with preparation H should I apply it after every bowel movement? And last....do most people consider hemorrhoids to be embarrasing like how people consider having diarrhea embarrasing?

I don't have any of the other syptoms people are talking about like pain, bleeding, etc. The only problem I have is constipation from the hemorrhoids.
